Many people choose to include their charitable interests in their long-range estate planning. There are a number of ways to preserve the financial security of your estate and loved ones while also providing for charitable gifts.
You don’t need to have Bill Gates money to make a lasting impact on the future your friends and neighbors in Trego County. You can designate a gift through a bequest or name the Trego Hospital Endowment Foundation as a beneficiary of your life insurance, IRA, insurance plan beneficiary designation, real estate or tangible personal property.
If you are considering a bequest to the Trego Hospital Endowment Foundation, there are several possibilities: a cash bequest, a gift of property or stock, a share of the residue of your estate or the remainder of a trust after the lifetime of a family member. The following language may be helpful to your attorney in facilitating your bequest to the Trego Hospital Endowment Foundation.
You may be able to direct your attorney to prepare a codicil, or amendment, to your existing will. It is usually not necessary to revise the entire document. To provide for the Trego Hospital Endowment Foundation through a will, the following sample language is recommended.
If you have included us in your will, please let us know. Contact Carole Frick at endowment@tregohospitalfoundation.org or (785) 743-2070.
Specific Bequest:
“I give, devise and bequeath [insert the sum or description of the property] to the Trego Hospital Endowment Foundation, 236 N 6th St. WaKeeney, KS 67672.”
Residuary Bequest:
“I give, devise and bequeath to the Trego Hospital Endowment Foundation, 236 N 6th St. WaKeeney, KS 67672 all [or a portion – for example fifty percent] of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate.”
Contingent Bequest:
“In the event that [insert name of primary beneficiary] shall not survive me, or shall die within ninety (90) days from the date of my death, then I give, devise and bequeath all of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate to the Trego Hospital Endowment Foundation, 236 N 6th St. WaKeeney, KS 67672.”
The above samples of bequest provisions are designed to provide unrestricted gifts to the Foundation, to be used wherever the need is greatest. However, you may prefer to restrict your bequest for a specific purpose or program, such as research, training or medical equipment. We’d be delighted to discuss current or future projects that might align with your personal goals or ideas so that your legacy will be remembered by many future generations.
Also, you may choose to establish an endowed fund through your bequest. Because only the interest income from the fund is used, your gift insures that the outstanding quality of care provided by Trego Hospital Endowment Foundation will continue today as well as in the future. An endowed fund may be named after yourself or your family, your parents, or other individuals you wish to honor.
Individuals who are considering a bequest to the Trego Hospital Endowment Foundation are encouraged to contact our office to ensure that we are able to conform to any specific desires or requests that may be included in the bequest.
